Round 4
Well, what to say? Here's the night in a nut-shell...
We raced and beat team 8.6, Orange Inc for heat one of the night. (Damage Inc rolled onto the track with an OC car and OC drivers. ??? Interesting...)
Heat two we actually did race Orange Crush. Despite our best efforts they won.

Round 3

Left to Right: #72 Steve Gursky, Sr., #76 Steve Gursky, Jr., #74 "Speedy" Steve Vollbrecht, #7 Brian Anderson, #78 Chris "The Disturbed One"

"It was a hell of a night of racing!"
-"Speedy" Steve Vollbrecht

Wow. It really was a hell of a night of racing.
Heat one we took on Seek-N-Destroy. It was a great race. #76 Steve Gursky, Jr. and #29 "Sarge" Turnbaugh were stuck like glue while "Sarge" tried to spin Steve, eventually putting him into the wall. #74 Speedy Steve Vollbrecht took care of "Sarge" and #7 Brian Anderson took the checkered flag.
After some most unfortunate happenings, heat two got under way. We lined up against Mean Green. On this fast track we saw a horrifying pile-up involving two of our own drivers and two green cars. As Steve Gursky, Jr. barrelled towards the grandstands Speedy got turned around by #17 Gerritt "Big Kahuna" Vanderbilt and took Gursky's full force as #13 Ryan Decker almost simultaneously carreened into his passenger side, literally flattening Speedy's car (and nearly giving his wife a heartattack!). Gursky went on to take the checkered flag.
With our back-up driver, #72 Steve Gursky, Sr., filling in for "Speedy", we looked out to see the white cars of Stranglehold lined up next to us for heat three. And boy did Stranglehold have the momentum of their previous wins of the night behind them! They gave us a good, hard fight. #50 Bill "Hammer" McMahan was like a roach scurrying around the track - it took a lot of stomping from #78 Chris "the Disturbed One" McGuire and Steve Gursky, Sr. to stop him. Brian lost his steering after a head-on blow from Wally Hartung and then had Hartung smashed against him via Gursky, Sr. On his third lap and in the lead, Gursky, Jr. brought us the win after a countdown.
And the night is ours!

Round 2

What a slow & soupy track! When I asked each of our drivers to recap their night's experiences for me they started with "couldn't move", "thrown off by track conditions", "had to re-learn how to drive out there in that", "bad track", "WAY too much mud" ... the recurring thought obviously was that the track's, uh, consistency (?) was not optimal.
Heat one we ran against Stranglehold. Brian Anderson #7 ran laps and was hit head-on by and stuck to M. Noble between turns 1 and 2. "Speedy" Steve managed to separate them while he was roaming the track with #78 Chris McGuire hitting whomever they could. #76 Steve Gursky, Jr. started the heat running laps but lost steering and ended up blocking for Brian, who took the checkered flag.
Full Throttle was lined up against us for heat two of the evening. Steve Gursky, Jr. started out running but switched to crushing. He met with #40 Ron Johnston on his second lap in turn 2 and popped his passenger front tire in the exchange. On his third lap, and again in turn 2, Steve collided with #41 Pete Millette, Jr. and was spun. He then crushed and stuck to Ron Johnston. As usual, Chris spent the race stalking and attacking any opposing car on the track. "Speedy" Steve ran the five laps and took the checkered flag.
Heat three. Orange Crush. There was a lot of hitting and crushing going on... even into the fifth round after the flag was thrown... Speedy v Bluer... Ryan v Gursky, Jr. We tried, but Orange Crush managed to take the win this time. We can't wait for the re-match... and hopefully on a drier track.

Round 1

Left to right: #72 Steve Gursky Sr., #7 Brian Anderson, #78 Chris "The Disturbed One",
#74 "Speedy" Steve Vollbrecht, #76 Steve Gursky Jr.

What a night! It was great to finally return to the track. We hadn't expected to be facing such a competitive, hard-hitting evening of full-on mayhem and carnage! It was awesome!
First heat brought us to the line against team 3, Bad Company. I think everyone felt the hit that Kyle Shearer #38 doled out to Brian Anderson #7 as he was gunning for his second lap. Kyle left Brian with his steering wheel sitting in the passenger seat and a second bumper embedded in the side of his car! Steve Gursky, Jr. #76 took out Jason Ritacco #39 during their first lap while Chris "The Disturbed One" #78 trunked first Rich Wilson #33 and then Kyle Shearer #38. "Speedy" Steve Vollbrecht #74 had to switch gears from crushing to running laps to take the checkered flag.
For heat two we took on Seek-N-Destroy, team 2. Again, it was a tough race. Brian began as the lap runner but ended up blocking and crushing. Chris, as usual, prowled the track at high speed taking out every opponent in sight. "Speedy" Steve delivere
d a head-on blow to their lap runner, Levi Turnbaugh #26, and then pinned him against the wall. Steve Gursky, Jr. ran the track to take Reckoning's second checkered flag of the night.
Our third and final heat of the evening saw us pitted against Full Throttle, team 4. They may be a new team, but don't underestimate their destructive force. That was one hard-hitting race. Chris spun out Ron Johnston #40 and then Ron was held against the wall by "Speedy". Chris smashed Pete Millette #41 head-on at turn 4 and then gave Jay VanAllen #45 a head-on collision at turn 3 followed by a strong push backwards. Brian trunked Jay and held Pete against the wall. Steve Gursky, Jr. managed to run laps while avoiding the wreckage and took his second -
Reckoning's third - checkered flag of the night.
We did it! 1st place for night 1!!!

Congrats to Kurtis Kraehmer
for Placing 5th in the Spectator Figure 8!
